In the spring of 2009 we put on the debut London show of a then-unknown band called Egyptian Hip Hop. Barely out of high school at the time, it was seriously early days for the Mancunian four piece but there was no denying the ridiculous potential on display. Now just over a year on, they still have the best name in the game and have put out their debut single with our friends at Hit Club,

The Golden Filter pretty much brought the house down last week at Heaven, but originally slated for the opening slot were our very own friends in Pink Stallone. Coming off like Danger remixing the Flashdance theme, "Swiss Ambulance" landed on xxjfg earlier this year and apparently impressed the shit out of the Late of the Pier bros who headlined and curated last week's Heaven showdown, but

CMJ had no shortage of highlights, but perhaps the best pairing of the week came when two of the UK's finest new electro acts, The Whip and Late of the Pier, made their stateside debuts at the Music Hall of Williamsburg last Wednesday. Between the mechanical brilliance of the Whip's crushing synths and the over-the-top spectacle of Late of the Pier, it was one of the more lethal one-two punches
